The notion of transparency, used to expose the activity and life of the church to the community is a prominent thematic element utilized in the development of the design concept of the Core.
The exterior design gives The Core a visible presence along the church’s main drop-off lane. A broad steel canopy supported by tapered stone columns provides weather protection and defines the entrance, while masonry, glass, and metal elements relate the addition to the larger campus. Generous glazing brings daylight into the lobby and work areas and makes the building’s activity visible from outside.
Shaded outdoor seating, tiered gathering areas, solar-control elements, and landscaped pedestrian spaces extend the church’s hospitality beyond the building and create comfortable places for families to gather throughout the week.
The Welcome Lobby serves as the building’s main organizing space. This linear activity spine connects directly to the existing campus and provides areas for gathering, check-in, meetings, coffee service, and informal seating. A prominent stair and elevator mark the lobby’s connection to the second floor, while controlled access points provide the security required for the preschool and children’s programs.
The ground floor accommodates a preschool for up to 110 children, with ten classrooms, dedicated toilet rooms, storage, staff support spaces, and a flexible craft room. Upstairs, two large children’s worship rooms can operate independently or combine for larger gatherings. The second floor also houses the church’s administrative suite, organized with private offices, open work areas, meeting rooms, and shared support spaces that allow staff to work collaboratively while maintaining secure access.
Subsequent phases renovated the existing multipurpose sports courts building and associated support spaces. These improvements strengthened connections between the new and existing facilities, bringing the campus together through a more cohesive architectural character, circulation network, and overall visitor experience.
