Oglesby Student Union Replacement

Tallahassee, Florida

The new, state-of-the-art Student Union will transform the FSU campus with the opening of the new 300,000 square foot home for student life. The new facility will become its community center, reflecting the values and needs of FSU students as the university continues to rise in the National Public University Rankings. Our team conducted design workshops and student engagement across campus reaching over 300 students during the early design phases. The new Student Union will provide spaces for a variety of student activities, student government, multi-purpose ballrooms, support kitchens, Greek life, student lounge/lobby, flexible meeting spaces, retail/dining spaces, and exterior plazas and rooftop patios. Prior to this project, ALW completed the master plan of the site to ensure that future growth and expansion was considered, as well as connections and integration with adjacent facilities. Sustainable design/construction are included along with LEED documentation and BIM implementation. Construction is expected to be complete by Spring 2022. ALW is collaborating with joint venture partner Workshop Architects.
