The Center includes a dining room, kitchen, multi-purpose program rooms, office space, conference rooms and an auditorium. A central courtyard provides space for group gatherings, outdoor classes, and intimate study spaces. The courtyard is also the new site of a relocated, fully mature live oak tree that was saved during construction. Upon completion, the project received LEED gold certification and a Merit Award from AIA Tallahassee.
The design and layout of the Center for Global Engagement provides a very functional combination of social and gathering spaces on the first floor with versatile program rooms/classrooms and administrative suites on the second and third floors. Everyone who enters the building is impressed by the warmth of the materials and welcoming details such as the built-in bench and display cases featuring crafts from around the world. We could have not asked for a more beautiful, functional and versatile building.
